Optus Prepaid offers a range of prepaid mobile plans catering for all types of needs. I thought I would provide you with a quick summary of these and the types of customers that would be attracted to them:

Optus Talk & Text – Cheap 10c calls. This plan is aimed squarely at the student market looking for a great deal. Although credits don’t last beyond 30 days, you still get great value.

Optus Turbo Cap – Turbo Cap was given a face lift recently and boasts calls credits that start from $200 for $30 recharge and increases to $1000 call credit for $100 recharge. But this ins’t what this plan is really about. Data is its key ingredient. Each plan comes with a data allowance starting with 100MB and increasing to 1GB, plus you get free access to Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, eBay, Linkedin, and foursquare.

Optus Turbo Text – if you text alot and all day, then this is the plan for you. Again great for teenagers. $30 give syou 3,000 SMS and 100 mobile mins to ANY friends’ Australian GSM mobile and up to 100MB Data.

Optus Turbo Max – another of the extreme plans, this time aimed at those who like to make many calls. Two recharge offers, one at $70 giving you 3000 minutes in the month and one at $100 giving you 3000 minutes, 3000 text and 2GB data. It all lasts 30 days.

Optus Data Blaster – this is your all in one plan. Each recharge offer includes a combination of FreeCall minutes, unlimited standard SMS/MMS to other Optus Pre-Paid and data. Recharge offers go $30, $40, $50, $70 and $100.

Optus Now & Then – the key thing here is that credits last for 186 days. The recharge offers give you credit to anyone plus free calls to 5 Optus family and friends

Optus Bigger & Better – combination of free calls to other Optus Prepaid and Optus contract and home phone (5 numbers). You also get credit to all anyone. Great if you have friends on Optus prepaid.

Data is the prepaid mobile plan market is sure to be the next battle ground as I have said often in my posts on this and other blogs/sites. It is inevitable and with Sim Only plans already starting to show a flavour for more data eg KISS Mobile, its time to see what our prepaid mobile providers have got to say. Optus is first off the mark with the Optus Turbo Max.

The $100 Turbo Max plan includes 3,000 minutes of calls, 3,000 texts and 2GB of data for each $100 recharge. As is typical with prepaid plans, you have to use that value within 30 days. If you’re a regular user, you could probably get better value on a post-paid plan, but the data inclusion does make this plan stick out a little from the prepaid pack. Compare this to the Optus Turbo Cap and Data Blaster which offer 1GB for $100 and you can see that this offer is targeted at the big data munchers.
