Vodafone has just announced that calls between 3 and Vodafone customers on post paid plans are now free.
From the 21st of July, 3 stores will become ‘mutli-branded’, and will sell all the Vodafone range of mobile phones, mobile broadband devices, prepay and postpaid caps and plans.
120 Vodafone-exclusive stores across the country are also being updated, VHA says, with a focus on “a new and improved customer service experience in-store,” likely to be similar to Telstra’s own so-called T-Life stores, which began launching last year.
“By bringing Vodafone products and services to 3 stores there will bring more choice for our customers, supported by the strength of our Vodafone company-owned stores, which will be refitted to improve the customer experience.”
And as many had begun to notice, customers on postpaid Vodafone or 3 plans can now make free calls to each other, an improvement from the previously offered free 3-to-3 or Vodafone-to-Vodafone calls.
The rollout will be progressive. It will be initially rolled to Vodafone customers (ie they get free calls to 3 mobile) and will then go the other way with 3 customers getting free access to Vodafone customers by the end of July.
Vodafone customers will see calls appear as ‘V23′ on the bill, while 3 customers will see ’32V’.
The plan eventually is to close down the “3″ brand in Australia and only operate with the Vodafone brand.
