Optus Talk & Txt plan was released earlier this month, and I would say that it is focused on making a stab at the budget end of the prepaid mobile market that seems to have been captured by the likes of the new Woolworths Everyday Mobile offer (also on the Optus network).
There are several key players in this space, including some of our favourites like Virgin Prepaid, Just Mobile, Savvytel. We also have the new Go-Talk offers that are pretty competitive and ffer good value if callong o/seas. Enough about everyone else, lets talk Optus Talk & Txt.
What I like about it – is that it is simple to understand. 10c calls per 30 sec, 10c txt and 10c flagfall. Easy to remember. And 10c is cheap, not the cheapest, but you wouldn’t expect that from the No 2 Telco. Virgin is slightly cheaper at 5c. What is great about it is that it is 10c to anyone, any network. Most offers have a cheap rate or free calls when its within the network. This plan doesn’t offer free calls, its just cheap calls to everyone. At the moment they are also offering bonus SMS when you recharge online.
What could be better – Credit expiry is only 30 days. I think it would look better if it was 45 days. You can’t have everything.
Overall I think its a great offer (thumbs up) and well worth considering if you make a lot of calls and txt in the month.
